Started in 1990 the Escape Route celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2010. Over the last 20 years the gear has changed dramatically as well as the business of outdoor in general. But what hasn't changed is people's passion for the outdoors and the good things that come from choosing to spend a lot of time out there. The Escape Route started with two high school friends looking to earn a living while living close to their dreams of staying in the mountains. Started by Tom Duguid and Jayson Faulkner, it was the first store of its kind in Whistler, as it is today. A focused, technical specialty outdoor store dedicated to people who play in the mountains.

It is now owned and operated by a passionate group of enthusiasts who continue to spend as much time as they can in the mountains that they love. This gives them the very best knowledge on the products they sell since they are speaking with first hand experience. Current owners James Retty and Jayson Faulkner have spent a lifetime in the mountains of the Sea to Sky corridor whether leading Cub Scouts on adventures or testing new routes in remote places. It all comes down to the love of the outdoors and the camaraderie of the friends that you share it with.
